Happy Easter Everyone! some exciting news and events regarding the Latin Mass!
 SAVE THE DATE! THURSDAY JUNE 15 – More details on Corpus Christi Sung Latin Mass at Our Lady of Peace, 620 Amboy Avenue in Fords is coming soon! In the meantime, please invite your family and friends to save the date and join our mailing list (see end of this email), AND please let us know if you are interested in serving, singing or materially supporting this Mass, procession and convivium (aka coffee and calories). Also this month of May offers many opportunities to honor Our Blessed Mother:

SATURDAY MAY 13 – OCTOBER 13: The Holy See has granted an plenary indulgence once each month from May 13 to October 13, for all Catholics who visit a Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, or pray before an Image of Our Lady of Fatima on the 13th of the month. The usual condition of praying the Creed, the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be for the intentions of the Holy Father, being interiorly detached from sin, receiving Holy Communion, and receiving absolution (going to confession) 8 days before or after the 13th of the month applies to all seeking to gain this indulgence. https://stleothegreat.com/documents/2017/5/Fatima%20Indugence%205.5.17.pdf

Fr. Dan Hesko will keep St. Catherine Laboure Church, 130 Bray Avenue, Middletown, NJ open on the 13th of each month for the faithful to visit to the image of Our Lady of Fatima enthroned there.

SUNDAY MAY 14 @ 7PM: Our Lady of Fatima Church, 501 New Market Road, Piscataway NJ invites you to join their 16th Annual Fatima Candlelight Procession. The faithful will gather at 7 pm outside the church; procession through the streets will begin at 7:30 pm. The Rosary will also be recited inside the church for those unable to walk the route. After the procession, there will be music by Our Lady of Fatima Choir, homily by guest preacher Fr. Frederick L. Miller, S.T.D., Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Benediction, and the traditional Fatima Farewell. Candles and rosaries available for a small donation. Reception to follow in the auditorium of the Recreation Center. Children are welcome to participate in the procession dressed as angels and saints. First Holy Communicants are invited to attend wearing their First Holy Communion attire. Adults are welcome to carry parish flags, banners and the platform of Our Lady. MONDAY MAY 15 @ 7 PM, Our Lady of Peace Parish Center, 25 Franklin Avenue, Edison, NJ: Deacon Paul Makar of Assumption Parish will offer a presentation on the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Byzantine Rite of the Catholic Church. The Ukrainian Catholic Church is one of 23 churches that make up the Catholic Church; the Byzantine Rite is one of the five rites celebrated in the Eastern churches. Come and learn more about what you will experience at Sunday’s Divine Liturgy (see below).

THURSDAY MAY 18 @ 7 to 9 PM: St. Catherine Laboure Church, 5 Shore Acres Drive, Middletown, NJ invites you to their parish hall across the street from the church to meet Catholic radio talk show host and singer/songwriter, Mike Church. He will present “The Catholic Gentleman’s Guide to Reconquest of Society: How Catholic Men and Families Can Reshape Our Culture and Society.” Doors open at 6 pm with a book signing to follow. I have attached a flyer which you can print and share.

 

SUNDAY, MAY 21 @ 9 AM, Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 684 Alta Vista Place, Perth Amboy, NJ: Please join Fr. David Skoblow, parochial vicar of Our Lady of Peace in Fords, for a visit to this parish to experience the Divine Liturgy and meet with Assumption parishioners afterward. The Ukrainian Catholic Church is part of the Catholic Church and in union with the Pope in Rome, so this Liturgy will fulfill the Sunday Mass obligation. The liturgy will be sung in Ukrainian, and the church itself is a splendid example of Byzantine church architecture.

GREGORIAN CHANT WORKSHOP ON MARCH 28 WELL ATTENDED!  All in attendance learned a lot from Mr. Anthony R. Nardino, Director of Sacred Music at St. Peter the Apostle University & Community Parish in New Brunswick. For those who wanted to learn more, Anthony suggested the following resources. He is also hoping to offer more chant workshops in the near future.

Joseph Ambrosio will celebrate the first Traditional Latin Mass in Saint Stephen’s Parish – and in the entire town of Kearny – since the changes of Vatican II.
